Villa S.K.

Al mujassam Architects

Al Mujassam Architects was commissioned by a private client to design a contemporary stone villa that combines sculptural architecture with resort-style outdoor living. The result is a multi-level residence organized around a sequence of terraces, water features, and social courts, creating a seamless dialogue between the built form and the landscape.

The architectural language is defined by monolithic travertine-like stone volumes, offset with warm herringbone timber inserts and expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing. These contrasting elements highlight the verticality of the main tower while framing panoramic views from the upper living spaces and bedrooms. A stone base level anchors the house to the site and accommodates more private functions that open directly onto the pool and gardens.

Outdoor living was a core driver of the design. Generous platforms step down from the main entrance terrace to a linear pool and sunken lounge, complemented by sculptural fire bowls, statement planting, and curated art pieces. A series of shaded pergolas and fabric canopies define intimate seating and dining zones, allowing the family to enjoy the exterior environment comfortably across different times of day.

Landscape and architecture are carefully interwoven. Palm trees, sculptural red planting, and boulder groupings soften the rectilinear geometry, while a subtle water rill guides movement along the garden edge. The combination of natural stone, timber, and lush greenery yields a rich yet timeless material palette that will age gracefully. Overall, the villa reflects Al Mujassam Architects’ commitment to creating bespoke luxury residences where spatial drama, functional planning, and refined detailing come together in a coherent, livable whole.
