Al Mujassam Architects was commissioned by a private residential client to design a contemporary family villa distinguished by its sculpted, curved façade and calm, understated luxury. The brief called for a home that would feel both iconic from the street and warmly welcoming upon arrival, with a strong sense of privacy and a fluid connection to the surrounding landscape.
The front elevation is defined by a series of soft, radius corners and deep vertical volumes that frame a generous double-height entrance. Large glazing panels reveal warm interior lighting and vertical wooden cladding, creating a striking contrast against the smooth, sand-toned exterior shell. This interplay of solid and transparent elements gives the villa a bold architectural presence while maintaining a refined, minimalist language.
Material selection focuses on timeless elegance and tactility. A muted, stone-like render wraps the upper volume, while natural wood accents highlight key architectural features such as the entry portal, balcony recesses, and shading elements. Slim, floor-to-ceiling windows are carefully positioned to maximize natural light and garden views without compromising privacy, especially along the bedroom and lounge zones on the upper floor.
The arrival experience is choreographed through a gently stepped approach, integrated landscape lighting, and curated planting that softens the geometry of the structure. Low-maintenance greenery, sculptural shrubs, and a tailored lawn edge the driveway, reinforcing the villa’s modern resort character. The shaded balconies and covered terraces extend interior living spaces outdoors, offering protected vantage points to enjoy views throughout the day.
Inside, the architectural framework supports a contemporary open-plan layout, with double-height spaces and long visual axes that draw the eye toward the garden.
