Al Mujassam Architects was commissioned to design a contemporary family villa that departs from rigid geometries and instead celebrates soft, flowing forms. The resulting residence is defined by its sculpted, curved upper volume that appears to gently wrap the ground floor, creating a sense of movement and continuity while framing key views toward the garden and pool.

The design brief centred on creating a warm, resort-like home that combines privacy with openness. Along the street-facing façade, carefully composed glazing and vertical slit windows control sightlines, while the deep upper canopy and timber soffits create a sheltered, welcoming entrance sequence. Large-format glazing to the inner façades maximises natural light and visually connects all primary living spaces to the outdoor terraces and pool deck.

Materiality plays a key role in the villa’s character. A soft, textured plaster finish to the curved volumes is contrasted with warm timber bands, bronze-toned frames and full-height draperies that add depth and refinement. At ground level, a more solid, muted base anchors the house, allowing the upper floor to float lightly above the landscape. Integrated lighting within soffits and terraces subtly highlights the curvature of the architecture during evening hours.

The outdoor environment is conceived as an extension of the interior. An L-shaped configuration wraps around a central swimming pool, with generous terraces dedicated to lounging, dining and family gatherings. Carefully placed trees and planting pockets soften the hardscape, provide shade and create intimate corners along the perimeter. This seamless indoor–outdoor relationship ensures that the villa functions as a cohesive sanctuary for everyday living and entertaining.
